The Woman Who Had Two Navels

Exposition:

Connie Escovar went to Hong Kong to have a surgical operation to remove her extra navel, as she believed that she was born with two navels. She was not mentally conscious, and experienced hallucinations and delusions. She proclaimed that she was a 30-year old woman who had just gotten married on the same morning when she was asked by the horse doctor, Pepe Monson. The truth behind Connie’s age and status were only revealed after her mother, Concha de Vidal stated that her daughter was actually 18 years old, and she had gotten married almost a year ago.

Rising Action:

Pepe Monson warned Paco Texeira to avoid both the mother and her daughter – Concha de Vidal and Connie Escovar. On the other hand, Paco was conflicted when he had to make a decision of abandoning his family because of his attraction to Connie.

Climax:

The truth behind Connie’s hallucinations was unraveled through flashbacks, while Paco waited at the park as he had already decided.

Falling action:

Connie and Paco abandoned their respective families, and escaped.

Resolution/Denouement:

The news of Connie’s death spread in town. Because of Connie’s death, Macho was overcome with guilt, and shot himself and Concha through his gun. The Monsons are the only ones who know the truth behind Connie and Paco’s escape.
